Rutschman takes in the scene moments before his MLB debut on 5/22/22.

Adley Rutschman’s day began in his AAA manager’s office. It ended with a big league triple in Baltimore. Early this morning, the Orioles promoted the top overall prospect, and 24-year-old switch hitting catcher. A video surfaced shortly after of Adley being notified of the decision, met by several joyous teammates to celebrate with him. The meeting with his manager began with an explanation of his playing time lately and ended with the good news. It was simply one of those moments that captures the beauty of this sport.

Rutschman promptly got to Baltimore and began getting ready for his big league debut against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight. Another video shows him taking it all in before his first warm up pitches prior to his official debut. He soaked in this once in a lifetime opportunity, and every baseball player’s lifelong dream came true. If this wasn't a good enough day for him, the 24 year old shot a triple down the right field line for his first big league hit in the 7th inning. The skills were immediately on display on this swing, and he would also draw a walk in the game. The Rays went on to defeat Baltimore 6-1, but that was through no fault of the rookie.

Rutschman is widely known as the top prospect in baseball, and he is looked at as the future face of the Baltimore Orioles. There's no questioning the skills of this guy,  switch hitting catchers with his hit and power grades don't come along very often, and that's not to mention he figures to be a good defensive catcher. The Orioles have been rebuilding for some time now, and they hope to have called up one of the key pieces of their future today.
